Kasich hurts Trump because he is going to fight Trump in the Northeast and Pennsylvania - if it were just Trump v. Cruz, Trump would slaughter Cruz in the Northeast (potentially 75-25 in Rhode Island). Kasich makes it so that Trump is forced into a brokered convention. With just Cruz, Trump could easily reach the number of delegates necessary to prevent a brokered convention. The fact that Cruz is trying to make it a Cruz v. Trump thing is evidence of his lack of political imagination.
