Instead of the government shutdown happening in 2013, it happened in October of 2012 and ended on the week of the election. 

How would it sway the election? Would it be a landslide for the democrats?

Not necessarily, the GOP base also would have come out in great numbers. Also, who says it would have ended on the week of the election if everyone's campaigning? A lot of incumbents would have lost in the House and Senate in both parties.
