I'm not sure how much that really matters, at this point. What matters much more is how many people from a country have radicalized. In that regard, I think the Netherlands is slightly less bad off than Belgium and France (numbers of people travelling to Syria underpin that), but of course I do not have the illusion that an attack like this one could not happen here. But I'm not going to be afraid of it.

Brussels mayor Yvan Mayeur states that 20 were killed by attack on Maalbeek metro station and 106 wounded, of whom 17 very severely wounded, 23 severely, and 66 lightly.

With hashtag #ikwilhelpen ("I want to help"), people are offering help to the victims and to people who cannot go home anymore because of the public transportation shutdown.

Very scary.   I was in Munich last night, and police were everywhere.  I was wondering why and actually kind of freaked out (a huge group were at the entrance to the subway/metro).

What I want to know is why wasn't security heightened after the Paris attacker was captured if it was reported he was planning something in Brussels? I think he was captured there, too. I think that the citizens should've temporarily fled and security could've increased.
