Whom do you reckon would be likely picks by the Big Don?

I'm guessing Herman Cain for Treasury or Commerce Secretary, Chris Christie for Attorney General, a senior military general or admiral for Secretary of State, some prominent Trump-endorsing businessman for Secretary of Defense....who else?

Also, in terms of the White House staff itself, I'm beting that Ivanka, Eric, and Don, Jr. would all have significant roles. And Roger Stone would very likely be either his Chief of Staff and/or Senior Adviser in a manner similar to the way in which Karl Rove was for George W. Bush.

I think he might name some people from NYC.
Bloomberg for Commerce and Giuliani for Homeland Security might be a possibility.

Yes, I am dead serious, fellow Texan. Bloomberg might be an interesting cabinet choice for Trump if he wins.

I could make some more serious recommendations but with the current state of the race:

Trump Cabinet:

VP - Sessions
State - Giuliani
Treasury - Bloomberg
AG - Christie
Agriculture - Rick Scott
Commerce - Icahn
Defense - Schmitz (former DoD IG)
Education - Omarosa (couldn't think of anyone Smiley)
Energy - JEB Bush (who's low energy now? Smiley)
Health and Human Services - Carson
Homeland Security - Arpaio
Housing and Urban Development - LePage
Interior - Palin
Transportation - Scott Brown
Veterans Affairs - McCain (ironic isn't it?)

I'm imagining a cabinet made entirely of Breitbart commenters. It'll never happen, but it's a hilarious mental image.

Why are we predicting a Trump cabinet? I thought there was a convention that needed dispensing with?

First off, why would Bloomberg want to be anybody's Secretary of Commerce? More to the point, why on Earth would he accept any position whatsoever in a Trump administration?

I think Trump will pick a slew of folks no one has ever heard of.

Chris Christie will NOT be confirmed to a Cabinet post.  I would not be surprised if Trump picked Rudy Giuliani as AG.  He would be more likely to be confirmed.

A lot of the "best folks" Trump suggests would not serve in Government and lose money.  I wouldn't be surprised if high associates to folks like Carl Icahn are selected.  I would also expect a number of retired Generals and Admirals.  Trump, like many businessmen, is not awed by pols and business types, but he is absolutely enthralled by Generals and Admirals.

Bloomberg wouldn't serve in anyone's cabinet, especially not Trump's. They've had a good relationship in the past, but Bloomberg is very unimpressed by Trump's behavior and rhetoric. People like Christie, LePage and Palin will be thrown away once they stop being useful.

No, Bloomberg was afraid Bernie Sanders would win. He dropped out as soon as Clinton took a significant delegate lead. He was always about stopping Sanders, not stopping Trump. The only thing he dislikes about Trump is that he might have lost to Sanders.

He's a pragmatist. He's always wanted to be president, but he doesn't want to deal with the BS of the two-party system. That's why he switched parties to run for mayor as a Republican. He saw an opportunity to run in the middle with Sanders/Trump, but he dropped out because Clinton would box him out. It had nothing to do with preference.

He almost certainly won't pick a Cabinet with this many big names, but this exercise is just for fun, so:

Trump Cabinet:
VP - Rubio
State - Sessions
Treasury - Portman
AG - Christie
Defense - Keith Kellogg
Health and Human Services - Carson
Homeland Security - Giuliani
Agriculture - Branstad
Commerce - Icahn
Labor - Scott Walker
Education - Gingrich
Energy - Scott Brown
Housing and Urban Development - LePage
Interior - Brian Sandoval
Transportation - Rick Scott
Veterans Affairs - Duncan Hunter
HUD - Kasich
DNI - Michael Hayden
OMB - Tom Reed
EPA - Susan Dudley
National Security Adviser - Walid Phares
UN Ambassador - ?
Trade Rep - Mark Cuban
Chief of Staff - Corey Lewandoski (?)

Look at his list of foreign policy advisers.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/23/us/politics/donald-trump-foreign-policy-advisers.html

That's what I expect we'll be seeing. If the sniveling coward is even vaguely serious about being Chief Executive (instead of just looking at his election as a four year vacation and free PR stunt, which is certainly possible) you'll end up with yes-men, personal friends, and second tier clowns (with no one big or competent enough to threaten to eclipse the Big Kahuna in the White House). Any big names he does get to sign on board out of ambition will be rapidly screwed-over, scapegoated for inevitable failures, or booted for disagreeing with the Big Cheese.

Bloomberg absolutely hates Donald Trump. Bloomberg is mostly liberal politically.

Interesting exercise. My guess:

VP - John Kasich
State - Rudy Giuliani
Treasury - Carl Icahn
AG - Chris Christie
Defense - James Mattis
Agriculture - Rick Scott
Commerce - Mark Cuban
Labor - Scott Walker
Education - (dissolved and combined with HHS) Ben Carson
Health and Human Services - Ben Carson
Homeland Security - Jeff Sessions
Housing and Urban Development - Paul LePage
Interior - Sarah Palin
Transportation - Susana Martinez
Veterans Affairs - Duncan Hunter

Lol, Guiliani has the Bernie Kerick problem, he wont pick Guiliani or Christie under any circumstances.  If Portman is defeated, he wont be picking him and John Kasich declined Veep.

Since he is close to Vets, alot of his cabinet will have fmr Vets
