Castro is not the right person to counter Trump. Maybe he'd be good in a future election, but not 2020.

Says the guy whose name is "Castro2020".  Tongue

(Though yes, we've been over this before, re: your username.)

In any case, would be fun if someone did the statistics on potential candidates from past years who said something equivalent to "I won't take that off the table" when they're asked if they'll run for president in the next election.  It's got to be a very high %age of such people who actually end up running.  If you've pretty much already decided to run, then you say "maybe".  If you're not sure, then you deflect the question or give a denial.  Smiley

Not a big signal from Sherrod Brown, but bigger than most I've seen:

Gabriel Debenedetti @gdebenedetti
Sherrod Brown fundraising email: "Can you give $27?"
Think he's trying to channel anyone in particular?

O’Malley’s going to South Carolina:

I understand doing fundraisers and campaign events for fellow Democrats and the like, but a town hall?  O’Malley himself is going to take questions from voters in a town hall even though he currently holds no political office and is (presumably) two years away from declaring his candidacy for president again?  Sheesh.

As reported last month, Kasich is planning to return to New Hampshire as part of his book tour.  It now looks like the tentative date for his New Hampshire appearance is April 27th, just two days after the book comes out:

Did people see the Booker CNN interview? He spoke garbage & big lines all the time & was not making sense. He will probably turn out to be worse than Hillary & is possibly beyond repair at this point !

This is exactly why Donald Trump will win in 2020, and democrats will be destroyed in the Senate in 2018.

Because of....Cory Booker giving a bad CNN interview? Huh?

O'Malley should chill out for a bit. At a certain point, too much pre-prep work will cause harm. Right now it looks like all he cares about is running for President, because for the moment all he's doing seems to indicate just that.

So apparently there’s a new conference for “progressive activists” that’s been announced for June 9-11 in Chicago called “People’s Summit 2.0”.  The 2.0 is because there was also one held last year.  Bernie Sanders will be the keynote speaker:

http://www.thepeoplessummit.org

And according to this flyer, Tulsi Gabbard will be speaking there as well:

Looks like we may have to add a new name to the 2020 watch list.  Russ Feingold spoke at a fundraising dinner for Scott County (Iowa) Democrats on Saturday night:

OK, here are the details on Kasich’s NH return:

Here’s a list of some upcoming events with some 2020 relevance:

Mar. 31: Sanders and Warren make joint appearance in Boston
Apr. 8: O’Malley trip to South Carolina
Apr. 18: Warren’s book comes out, and she begins her book tour
Apr. 25: Kasich’s book comes out, and he begins his book tour (including Apr. 27 stop in NH)
Apr. 30: McIntyre-Shaheen fundraising dinner in NH (which may draw one or more 2020 Dems to attend, though none are scheduled to do so yet)
May 16: Center for American Progress’s “Ideas Conference” in DC, which will include speeches by Booker, Bullock, Garcetti, Gillibrand, Harris, Murphy, and Warren (and probably others too)
May 30: Franken’s book comes out, and he begins his book tour
June 9-11: “People’s Summit” in Chicago, which will include speeches by Sanders and Gabbard, among others.

Susan Sarandon is the worst person on the list.

Most of the others are good. However, calling something the "People's Summit" is a bit Orwellian, as it suggests conservatives are not people. Further, holding more of these events will continue to erode Bernie's brand because he associates himself with far leftists who don't have the personal likability of himself (as a safe white-bread far leftist from a rural state). This was part of the problem with his Ellison endorsement as well.

I kinda like Tulsi and Michael Moore. The others are either unknowns or confirmed terribles.

McAuliffe is asked again about 2020, and says that while he’s “not thinking about it”, he never takes anything off the table:
