Here's a brief recap of the Sanders trip to Iowa yesterday:

Word in my circles is that Rand Paul is considering a challenge to Trump from the right on healthcare and that the chances of him doing so will significantly increase if the Senate bill passes without his vote.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but by "challenge to Trump...on healthcare," do you mean being more vocal against Trump to fight the bill or running a full-fledged campaign against him in 2020?

Full-fledged campaign.

FWIW it's worth mentioning that he had a backstage conversation with a few of his IA organizers who were in-state at the time. I haven't asked what was discussed but someone put the caption 'talking about the future' on their pictures of it.

Shouldn't necessarily be over-interpreted, but this *is* the tea-leaves thread.

Warren asked about 2020 at a town hall this weekend:

Not trying to derail the thread but after reading the article, they really need to stop with this "She Persisted!" nonsense. It is terrible and it's like a losing team saying they should have won after a come from behind loss but that field goal!! Still a loss. Clinton needs to get out of the spotlight for the Dems to move on.

"She persisted" is about Warren, not Clinton:

Oh ok. Well I still think it's a terrible slogan and moderates and conservatives that would lean-Dem to vote against Trump would tear Warren apart over it because it sounds too much like a protest chant, agitation. Dems do not need to aline themselves with that because it alienates the very centrist, swing, etc. vote that they need to get.

Kirsten Gillibrand tweeted a picture of her new dog, which she has named "Maple".

https://twitter.com/sengillibrand/status/886928508773171202

Which state is known for providing large quantities of maple syrup? Vermont. This is clearly just some sad attempt to win over Sanders voters. Does she think we're stupid? Does she think we won't notice? The truth is out there.

I would much prefer the name 'Mabel' but I'm just a goofy Gravity Falls nerd. Tongue

I think this announcement is also the first time Biden has revealed the title of the book, which is “Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship and Purpose".

Here's the itinerary for the book tour:

https://us.macmillan.com/static/fib/joe-biden/

No stops in Iowa or New Hampshire.

Also mentioned: This weekend is the National Governors Association summer meeting in Rhode Island, so a number of potential 2020 candidates will be in attendance (e.g., Bullock, Hickenlooper, McAuliffe):

https://www.nga.org/cms/SummerMeeting2017

Looks like Cuomo and Kasich are skipping though.

Looks like McAuliffe used the occasion to give Pence a backhanded "compliment":

The BrockBots are already calling anyone who criticizes her sexist. The 2020 primary is going to be a sh**thole.
