[Inks]ing inexcusable. Dolan, at the very least, needs to go. I don't care that he's 'likeable' or 'good at catechesis' or whatever it is that the excuse for keeping him around is.

Similar attitude in PA

http://www.mcall.com/opinion/white/mc-bw-child-sex-abuse-bill-20160409-column.html

And famously in Australia too

http://m.theage.com.au/victoria/church-to-block-victims-court-bids-despite-promise-to-abandon-practice-by-pell-20150517-gh3jkr.html

If you've been paying attention to more than Pope Francis' slight of hand in recent years this really shouldn't suprise anyone.

Somewhat misleading title as the sum was that spent on all lobbying, not just this one repugnant issue. And it was spent over nine years, so the non-sensationalist headline would be "Catholic Church lobbied for years to block NY child-sex law reform" which is pretty bad regardless of the amount spent.

Reminds me of the movie Spotlight.  Disgusting stuff.

Can't say I'm too surprised. I genuinely hope Francis will be able to deal with some of the worst pieces of sh*t responsible for this, but one person standing up against an institution can only do so much.
