During the great Chinese commodity boom, there were plans to mine in some rather inaccessible area of Canada that have all fallen by the wayside.  Those would have been a walk in the park compared to Antarctica.  I've seen scenarios for mining on the moon or asteroids that are more fleshed out than mining in Antarctica.

Voted no, but the question is moot.

No. Giving multinational corporations the ability to destroy yet another continent is like giving Poland to Hitler. There can be no compromise in regards to this. Conservatives should be worrying about how their children and grandchildren will deal with climate change much more than the freakin' national debt.
