The raw data was created by Ryne Rohla who is RealisticIdealist...fail.

If you go to his 2016 election precinct map thread, he mentions that he was adding it in. 538 simply used the data present in dra to draw their maps.
I accept full responsibility for my error.

Oregon Republican gerrymander

I created two solid D districts - one in Portland and one in outer Portland metro, Salem, Eugene, and Corvallis, and distributed the rest among 3 lean-to-safe Republican districts.

OR-01 (Pink): R+4, 83% White
OR-02 (Red): R+6, 77% White
OR-03 (Blue): D+29, 73% White
OR-04 (Yellow): R+11, 85% White
OR-05 (Green): D+13, 74% White

Another Oregon gerrymander. It's the same as the current map, but only with all D seats likely or safe.

OR-01 (Blue): D+10 75% White
OR-02 (Red): R+18 84% White
OR-03 (Purple): D+16 73% White
OR-04 (Green): D+6 84% White
OR-05 (Yellow): D+9 76% White

All incumbent Dems would keep their seats, and Walden (if he chose to run again) would be a sacrificial lamb vs. Blumenauer.

The PVI seems to be stuck in DRA.

I had done 5 districts, and started a 6th in Pennsylvania. It immediately says R+51.54 and won't change. I can switch to another state, and then come back to a fresh Pennsylvania and the same symptoms. It happens with DRA 2.5 and DRA 2.2, I reinstalled Silverlight, and restarted Internet Explorer.

Select the second option on PA.

What's the most uber-packed CO GOP seat you could get while keeping the lines nice?

This is my Dem gerrymander of CO. I could have made it look much worse than this in hindsight. Also, I don't know if anyone has ever taken the time to use KML files for their presentation

1: D+5.98, +49
2: D+1.77, +123
3: D+0.73, +433
4: R+20.07, +20
5: D+2.1, +56
6: D+2.08, +180
7: D+14.46, -874

An Eastern CO based seat, defiantly

What's interesting is if you put West Nebraska in a Democratic district. How does that alter the map?
nice map, btw. R+20 more than does the job.

That CO-03 is in fact completely road contiguous.
And thanks. I appreciate it!  Smile

I made it in Inkscape, manually.

Not sure what you mean. I made the maps in DRA, took screenshots of them, then made each district using the shape tool and reshaping it to be approximately the district, and then stitched the individual state district maps together.

oh, so did you manually draw the shape of each state?

Yeah, basically. I drew each district manually, which fit together to make the state.

I think it's coming along nicely. The PVI splits are (<1 | < 3 | <5 | <10 | <15 | <20 | <30 | 30+ ).

So far, there's 84 districts with a D-lean, 74 with an R-lean. 24 of the Democratic districts are under 5 PVI, 18 of the Republican districts are. So hypothetically, this is a 60 D - 56 R - 42 swing map. For context, the current map of these states has 31 swing districts, and the full map has a total of 72 districts between R+5 and D+5.

I have not done NYC or Long Island yet.

Something that I think should be mentioned is that DRA totals for 2008 sometimes have errors to them; votes can be off by a few hundred or something.
