I'm not surprised.  McCain's brand of Republicanism has effectively expired.

How tough is Ward as an opponent?

Not really at all, but being this close this early on in the primary process is horrible news for McCain.

Lol. Of course Ebsy didn't mention that McCain actually leads Ward by 13 if you include the other Republicans. Should McCain win the primary, this race is likely/safe R.

Good. I thought there were other Republicans running. I don't have to worry about this race. When is the primary?

A six point race isn't safe R. Tilts R but will be washed out in a Clinton wave.

McCains highest approval rating comes from "somewhat liberal" voters, strange!

Then hopefully conservatives will "come home" to him.

Could be an Indiana 2012 redux.

If McCain loses to Ward, it will be. I'm not quite convinced McCain is in this much trouble yet, but he is very unpopular...

Even if McCain ends up winning, Kirkpatrick will have made it a close election.

It would be slightly amusing if Trump wins Arizona, but McCain loses to Kirkpatrick.

McCain's strategy for going against Ward so far has been terrible.

He's been attacking her for holding a panel on chemtrails, but all he's really been doing is getting people to pay attention to the chemtrails issue; and I expect AZ GOP primary voters to be EXACTLY the kind of people who eat sh**t like "evil government brainwashing sky gas" up.

Nah, it's right on the border of lean R and toss-up tilt-R with McCain (Kirkpatrick is running a strong campaign and Trump will be on the ballot).  IIRC, this is McCain's first competitive AZ race too.

Likely older, wealthier Dems who "wish there were more like him"

Voted straight Republican until they voted to re-elect Bill in 1996. Voted for Bush twice and then Obama twice. Still GOP downballot.
