I glanced at the margin in ND and freaked out, and then realized there were only 16 votes in.

Clinton up 69 in ND with fifteen votes counted - four percent of the state total.

...I guess turnout was low.

The neat part is because of the math, this is invariant across the whole state. It's harder to move big piles from smaller piles.

I would much rather be the candidate with an early lead with a decent chunk of votes spread out over a key region than try to do a come from behind relying on a handful of population centers any day.

As someone who lives in Albuquerque, I can say Bernie is pretty popular here. There's a bunch of Bernie Sanders signs on peoples yards, and a lot of my friends are big supporters of his. Not saying he'll win New Mexico (he probably won't), but I'm not surprised that it's pretty close so far.

It's a caucus, so they probably aren't actual votes.

What the hell is going on!? Is Sanders about to win NM and lose SD? Those are some weak sauce margins for Clinton in Santa Fe and Albuquerque...

Yeah, this is really awkward...

It's all probabilities - the larger the pile gets - the harder it is for the pile to move. As the pile gets larger, the range of possibilities for outstanding votes will shrink - roughly in an inverse relationship with the number of votes counted.

This is why in a closer election it takes much longer for it to be called then in blowouts.
