Looks like the anti-Trump people are continuing to propose new amendments, but it sounds like the early votes haven't been good for them.

How stupid is this group. How stubborn a crybaby can you be?

The great majority of GOP voters have absolutely no use for these dead enders. Unfortunately Ryan, Graham, Jeb Bush, Romney, and the rest of the loser wing are keeping them inspired and going.

In other news, grass is green and water is wet.

They never had the votes.

NeverTrump as it pertains to the primary process is dead.  It will be alive and well for the general.

I would say that with this updated news the NeverTrump movement is officially dead, at least for the Convention:

Republicans responsible for setting the party's presidential nomination rules on Thursday overwhelmingly rejected attempts to formally unbind delegates to next week's convention, effectively ending any serious attempt to rob Donald Trump of the GOP presidential nomination.

A vote came quickly Thursday night as part of a day-long marathon session of the Republican National Convention's rules committee, which sets the rules of the meetings and how the party will pick its nominee in 2020.

The rejection of the "unbinding" proposal was so overwhelming that committee leaders opted not to record the tally. Trump supporters on the committee quickly exercised procedural tactics to effectively kill any attempt to revive the issue -- and to codify that delegates are indeed bound to vote for the results of state caucuses and primaries.

It never was alive. All #NeverTrump consisted of was a bunch of empty talk and hyped up rhetoric about trying to do something so unrealistic and undemocratic coming from a combination of country club Republicans and 'true conservative' hosts and activists. And obviously I say this as a NeverTrump person.

Glad Republicans can just accept what their party has become now.

Technically, the convention as a whole still has a chance to vote down the entire rules package.

But yes, as we've known since Indiana, the way to stop Trump is to vote for Hillary.

"NeverTrump" is Republicans who won't vote for Trump in the general election even if he's the nominee.  So no, this isn't the end of NeverTrump.  It's the end of "StopTrumpFromGettingTheNomination".

If anything, you'd have to say that if Trump was denied the nomination, *that* would be the end of NeverTrump, since there'd be no need to protest vote against him in the GE if he wasn't on the ballot.

Someone on MSNBC today floated the idea Pence was leaked to make this vote go easier, anyone else think that is possible and Pence was merely a ploy?

What would happen If a few hundred non Trump Supporting but pledged delegates refused to attend the Convention are they still counted or could they deny Trump the nomination that way.

Nothing was ever going to come of this. That was blatantly obvious from the start. It was the anti-Trump version of "hilery wil b indicted!!!!!!111!!" Fantasy propagated by wishful thinkers and wet dreamers.

I looked into this a while back, and there are procedures to fill missing slots, even at the last minute.  If they can find bodies in Cleveland that are from the state, the slots can be filled.

Likely would only be a problem for a few jurisdictions (e.g. the territories), although a concerted effort might be able to throw off the schedule.
