Hey guys, sorry for bothering you again but I'm trying to look at what would look like a path to a House majority for the dems this year and I believe that VA-05 could be one of these districts that would determine who controls the House next year.
This district is currently represented by Robert Hurt who defeated the incumbent democrat in 2010. This district voted for Mccain by 3 points in 2008 and for Romney by 7 points. This is an open seat, the dem candidate is part of the "Emerging Races" program, which helps the democrats running for congress.
Does anyone have any info about this district? Is it going to trend sharply to the democratic party?

Thanks in advance!

First off, Virginia was redistricted to be less of a gerrymander, so yeah, if the Democrats are to have any hope of retaking the House this time they need to pick up the open seat. How much the district has been affected by the redistricting, you'll need to ask someone else.
