Why does it feel like New York is so over-polled every election cycle?

New York has a number of uni pollsters that regularly poll the state - Siena, Marist and Qunnipiac from neighboring Connecticut, among others.  You only hear these polls during election cycles.  But Siena in particular polls year round regardless of the time of the cycle.
