Amazing. I disagree with Cruz on many issues and wouldn't be voting for him if he was the nominee, but  on the "vote your conscience" line, we are in perfect agreement. I am a registered republican (for caucusing purposes), but that does not mean I have to vote that way. Following your conscience makes sense, following your party is being a senseless marcobot. And that's why my ballot will be cast for either Hillary Clinton or Gary Johnson and not for Donald Trump.

He and Sasse will be competing for the "Pure Conservative" slot in 2020, it seems.

No, he's still the spawn of evil. He was just looking towards 2020.

With Minnesota transitioning to an open primary in 2020, will you become an independent?

Freedom Speech.

I'm certainly no supporter of Cruz, but the man has guts.

Egoism.  If he's so principled, he should have skipped like Rubio, Paul, Haley, Kasich, etc. did.

The buzz for Reagan after his 1976 speech was that maybe they nominated the wrong guy. Cruz' speech started off strong and Reaganesque but without echoing Reagan's call for unity he ended up potentially hurting his 2020 chances. He needs those Trump supporters. Will Cruz' speech/non endorsement become like Christie's hug of Obama, something people can point to as a reason why the GOP lost in 2016? (not saying it will cause the loss, just that people will say that the party was unified, and he bears some of that responsibility).   Kasich (and potentially Sasse) will already dominate the NeverTrump wing, Cruz needs those evangelicals that chose Trump over him on Super Tuesday.

Likely the only speech I will remember from this convention. The biggest freedom speech Cruz will likely ever give.
