The Lord of the Rings: The Northern Front (game thread)

The year is 3018 of the Third Age of Middle Earth.

The Free Peoples are weak.

The Dark Lord Sauron prepares to make war upon them once more, to reclaim what is his . . .

The One Ring.

But the Dark Lord is not unopposed. In the south, Gondor, his most powerful enemy, rallies against him, fortifying their borders in preparation for the coming storm.

In the West, Elrond of Rivendell has called a Council. As the White Council debates what to do with the One Ring (which is currently in possession of the Hobbit Frodo Baggins), the Dark Lord realises that he cannot hope to defeat the Free Peoples without control of the North.

The Dark Lord reaches out with his right hand, sending his armies of Easterlings, Gundabad, the Misty Mountains and Dol Guldur to seize the North

But he is not unopposed. The forces of the Dwarves of Erebor, the Men of Dale, the Elves of Lorien and Mirkwood and the Beornings stand ready to fight the forces of darkness.

As war clouds gather, the Free Peoples must set aside their petty squabbles, or face annihilation

Elves of Mirkwood

To King Dain of Erebor,

Dain, though it has been several years since we fought together at the Battle of the Five Armies, the Dark Lord has rebuilt his strength. The Shadow of Mirkwood grows ever stronger, and I fear the Easterlings will attempt to take Erebor. We must set aside our differences and fight for the common good

The Orcs of Gundabad will be training troops and preparing to advance.

The Orcs of the Misty Mountains will dispatch a diplomatic mission to the Easterlings of RHun

The Shadow of Mirkwood will busy training troops and carrying out guerrilla attacks on the Elves of Mirkwood.

The Beornings will fortify their settlements, and await further developments.
