I currently wear glasses and I'm going to try wearing contacts.  However, my eyes are kinda sensitive.  I want contacts because I think the glasses are a major stigma on my physical appearance, but I've tried wearing contacts before and I have a hard time with them.  Anyone have any advice as to anything I can do to train my eyes to wear contacts?

I would just wear the glasses, myself.  Personally, I don't think glasses decrease someone's physical appearance at all.

It's not so much that. The thing is they get in the way a lot. For whatever reason, I also feel more aware of the situation around me when I where contacts.

It just takes time to get used to them.  You just have to be responsible and take them out regularly (usually while your sleeping is a good time).

I could never bring myself to control my blink reflex well enough to put them in.

I wear contacts and love them.  They were hard to get used to at first, but now they're great.  I usually leave them in for about 3 or 4 days at a time, and then take them out for a night.

I'm used to glasses since I've worn them since I was 5. Never really had an interest in getting contacts either.

Probably because the rest of us suffer from eye damage caused by the computer screen for looking at it a long time.

Have glasses, but my vision is good enough that I don't need them unless I'm driving / reading stuff far away.  So having contacts would be generally pointless.

Ditto. My near-sightedness only comes into play on occasion.

Yes, I'm like that.  The only time I need glasses is in places like a university class where I need to read small print off of a blackboard.

It helps for those lecture halls for 300 kids and whatnot. Also helps for driving, in case I need to figure out what exit to get off of.

Yeah, being able to read road signs from a distance further away than two feet is also helpful.

I have worn contacts since I was 14 (I'm 23 now) much better than glasses.  Had trouble getting use to them at first, but no problems now .  An idea on how toget better use to them, is when you start out only wear them for a few hours (4 hours or so) & then gradually (every few days or so) add an extra half hour or hour on how long you wear them.

okay I went to two training classes for contacts.  I'm freaking out.  1st class nothing. Nada.  2nd class (today) got one in (no idea how), but couldn't get the other in.  3rd class scheduled at noon tomorrow.  Freaking out because they said tomorrow's the last day they would train me.  However I am determined to get them.  I will practice until I get it right.  Keeping my eye open enough is half the battle.  Touching it (to my eye) isn't much a problem, but it won't go in damn it!!!!  I release my finger and it sticks to my finger or it folds onto my finger.  Little help?

I've had glasses for awhile and I love them. I couldn't imagine looking at my face in the mirror and not having glasses on.

I wear glasses, and have since 4th grade. I've never had contacts. I'm quite near sighted.

Yeah, I remember it was a bit of a hassle when I got mine, but I love them much more than glasses. Just remember to keep your fingernails short - the first time I tried to take mine out they were a wee bit longer than I usually have them, and it made it a pain in the ass to try to get them out. Cutting/clipping/filing them once a week should be enough.
