The Primary Contests was contested between three main candidates. Governor of New York Govanah Jake, Senator from California Let Dogs Survive, and Congressman from Arkansas Kingpolen.
From Right to left it was considered that Govanah Jake ran to the left of both Kingpolen and LDS and ran as a Populist Leftist. LDS was considered quite liberal too though was more moderate on Social Issues.
Kingpolen represented the Centrist and Moderate Democrats in the Party; seen as the last gasp of that wing which was once much more dominant. By August of the Year previous to the Election all Three Candidates announced there bids. LDS in the Capital, Govanah Jake at his Governors Mansion, and LDS at his Home in Arkansas.
The polls showed a tight race though with Kingpolen leading most of the time due to LDS and Jake splitting the Liberal and Progressive vote. There was calls for Jake and or LDS to jump out to deny Kingpolen and the centrists the win by some prominent liberals but neither decided not too.
The Primary started in Iowa where within a few hours of the results coming in; it was clear that Kingpolen was able to edge it out 34.5% with LDS in Second at 29.8% and Jake at 28.5%. This was due to him winning the Moderate vote 45% over nearest rival LDS at 30%. Next was to New Hampshire where Jake was leading the polls and also was semi home turf. The race took quick to call and Jake won the race 47% over Kingpolens 28% and LDS's 24%. Next was Nevada where LDS was the favorite. He was helped by a small but critical Democratic Mormon vote in the state and won the state 43% to King Polens 31%.
After was South Carolina which was Kingpolens home turf. He like the previous two won the state by 48% over LDS at 33% and Jake at 19%.  The Race continued on. In March, the real winner was King Polen who won his Home State and all of the Southern States though was upsetted by LDS in Texas due to Vote splitting and the Same in Virginia where LDS was able to win big in Fairfax county. Jake won the few northern states that occurred in March including Minnesota, Illinois and Michigan. LDS also won Ohio due to a small win in Cleveland. Jake was also able to win all the Pacific Northwest states in March including Alaska, Washington, and Alaska.
LDS won Mormon heavy Idaho and Utah due to him being a Mormon. On April 5th, LDS won a upset over Jake in Wisconsin where he was polling 5-10% behind. This was due to his unexpected wins in the Milwaukee Suburbs. On April 9th, LDS easily won Wyoming which also has a decent Mormon population though on April 19th Jake won his home state and the crucial primary of New York by 47% with LDS at 36% and Kingpolen in 3rd place. He was strongest in Long Island (Specifically Nassau and Suffolk) and also upstate where he won up to 65% in some county's and won Buffalo and Albany plus Syracuse and Ithaca 71%.
April 26th were more Northeastern Primary's. LSD did unexpectedly well here when he only allowed local Governor Jake to win Connecticut and Pennsylvania. He was able to pick up Maryland due to the black vote and Rhode Island due to moderate and socons working class whites. Kingpolen barely won Delaware due to vote splitting.
On May 3rd was the Indianna primary where Kingpolen won by 5% and the rest of may was a draw between the three with each picking up states. June was the final and deciding month and whether there would be a winner. On June 5th LDS won the small but crucial delegates from Puerto Rico wining 51% of the states electorate over Jake at 38%. June 7th was when the rest (minus DC) of the primary's came in.
LDS home state of California was competitive as was shown in the polls but with 56% reporting LDS was able to win his home state 39% over state at 31% due to crucial wins in Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Bernardino county's as well as doing well in all of SoCal and Central California. Jake did well in the bay area winning San Francisco, Alameda County, Marin County, Santa Cruz county, Contra Coast County, and Napa county.
He did his best along the north coast where his populist campaign won him 75% of the vote in Humboldt County and also well in Mendocino, Sonoma, and Marin county's. North California as a whole was able a strong point for him. Kingpolen did best in North California and also south California often coming in second in both places though rarely winning a county. He did win Fresco county though.
In Montana a close resulted in a 3% win for LDS to many's surprised due to strong rural showings and also due to him winning Yellowstone county. while also winning New Jersey 40% over 38% for Jake in a Upset due to his wins in Trenton and in the Northern Suburbs and richer areas. Kingpolen won South Dakota while LDS won again in New mexico though Jake put him up to a fight winning the more liberal northern areas including Taos and also winning Santa Fe. Jake won North Dakota to cap it off.
LDS was seen as the real winner of the night winning two unexpected states in New Jersey and Montana. To cap off the Primarys, Jake won DC by 57%. In the end there was a contested convention due to no one winning the required among of delegates to win. Super delegates split between the three putting LDS in first, Kingpolen in Second, and Jake in Third.
In a compromised reached between Jake and LDS, Jake would agree to give his delegates to LDS in exchange for being his VP. This was a attempt by the Liberals to block Centrist King polen who had amassed a large coalition of Southern and Western delegates together from getting the nomination. Thedeal occured and LDS won on the 10th ballot. Jake was chosen as VP and was unchallenged.
King Polen disgruntled declared a independent campaign for president saying the DNC cheated him out. LDS/Govanah Jake would go on to win over Donald Trump/Mike Pence in the Elections. King Polen was able to win Delaware in the Election and come second in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Illinois, and other Southern and Western states winning 23% of the Popular vote compared to LDS/Jakes 40% and Trumps 36%
