Ugh, Georgia is always so close but fools gold at same time.

But demographic shifts are changing so rapidly there, that I am confident Democrats will breakthrough with a statewide victory within the next few elections, by 2020.

Democrats were dumb to not run a better candidate here. Would have been winnable with a Nunn or a Carter. Sad

How is the weird hat guy who hasn't even been endorsed by any of Georgia's legendary democrats getting this close? magic? or the $3 million he's spent so far?

Probably the fact that there are very few swing voters in Georgia.

I think it's two factors.

1. Changing demographics. Every Democrat running in today's GA is guaranteed at least 43-45% of the
vote.
2. Barksdale is outspending Isakson, from what I've heard. And yeah, the ads as well.

I still think this race is Safe R. Getting Barksdale to 50% will be an impossible task, especially against Isakson. If this were an open seat though, Republicans would be in big trouble.

Democrats were dumb to not run a better candidate here. Would have been winnable with a Nunn or a Carter. Sad

No, unlike the presidential race in GA, the Senate race is definitely fool's gold for Democrats. Nunn and Carter would have both lost to Isakson, and that's why they didn't run.

If Nunn/Carter had run again and Isakson had retired, maybe this would have been winnable.

Even if Barksdale and somehow come out ahead on election day, he'll lose the runoff.
