Barksdale would have had a shot if Georgia was not a run-off state.

Isakson will win, since there's no way Barksdale will hit 50% on November 8th, but this race is much closer than I had imagined. I wonder what's going on in North Carolina...

Hmm... still think Isakson wins without a runoff, but this will probably take some time to be called.

Probably, but a runoff here would encourage a #DeathOfTheRepublicanParty narrative in the media like it did in 2008.

Johnny Isakson will win reelection over the underdog Jim Barkdale but it will be by 5-15 points. Barkdale is a folksy Southern Democrat, but he does not have the DSCC money.

Former Georgia Gov. Roy Barnes (D) and Congressman David Scott endorsed Isakson. Some leftists are vexed with Scott, an African American "New Democrat" that they are floating a challenge from the Left in 2018. They think that he is an "Atlanta DLC corporatist".

Isakson will win, but Jason Carter, Sanford Bishop, Kasim Reed probably wish that they had ran this cycle.
