Let's assume that GHW Bush wins reelection in 1992.

Who do the Democrats put forth for the Presidency in 1996?

Probably Cuomo, as with Bush as Prez in 94, he probably squeaks to a fourth term.

I give Jerry Brown another shot. Cuomo is out since he was defeated in 1994.

✓ Former Governor Jerry Brown (D-CA)/Senator Bob Graham (D-FL): 338 EVs.; 52.1%
Secretary of HUD Jack Kemp (R-NY)/Governor Pete Wilson (R-CA): 200 EVs. 46.8%

John Kerry would've been the nominee.

Good look!  I maybe thinking Dole/Kemp vs. Kerry/Gephardt.

I could see Dick Gephardt winning the Democratic nomination. Al Gore and Sam Nunn are possibilities as well. At anyrate after 16 years out of power the Democrats would nominate a moderate from the Heartland capable of winning a Presidential election, rather than a coastal liberal. And I think after 16 years the electorate would want a change, so I think any of these candidates would have probably have won in 1996.

I would think that they would nominate Al Gore, maybe the electoral map would look somethings like this. Gore would come close in some of the south and his home state of Tenessee. He would take Ohio by  small margin.
