At first I thought the song was terrible because I couldn't understand a thing she was saying in the song and the only thing I understood was Drake's part. Then I did the research and realized she was singing it in Creole and Patois.

I still think it's bad though. The second music video is even bad cause NSFW

No, songs like Work are supposed to be ghettoish and more like "Trap" music. Matter of fact most of her music lately (Bitch Better Have My Money) has been like that, and it's a turn for the worse.

As opposed to Disturbia, Only Girl, Please Don't Stop the Music, and Shine Bright.

Voted meh, I don't like her new music so much. Work and Needed Me (and, to a lesser degree, BBHMM) are all not as good as most of her earlier hit songs.

Minor details like what language she's singing mean nothing when the song itself is pure rotten garbage. I hate a lot of pop music and this is one of the single worst ones.

Musically, I'm a total pop-loving plebe, but I love this one. 

The minimalist synth bassline is great as well as the dancehall chime, the lyrics are kind of dumb but at least charming, just in general a great simple riff.  Rihanna's outfit and body language in the second music video are also insanely, um... appealing, in the worst possible way.
