Maybe it's just me, but I have a feeling that the universal adoration Powell unfairly receives from the media would decline very significantly in a presidential campaign. In any case, the "draft Powell" simply was desperation among Gingrichites who correctly sensed defeat.

Like anyone with a chance at winning the White House, Colin Powell would've run in 1996.  He has 190 EV or so.  Is there a chance Perot doesn't run though?
