The christmas numbe of The Economist raises the issue of a stop-Dean effort and how is the lekely candidate. They argue that Gephardt will be the ABD (Anyone But Dean)-candidate, and that this will be a head-on battle in Iowa. They also claim that the polls show a tight race in Iowa between the two, but I don't know about that since I don't get to see that many American polls.

But let's discuss! Will there be a stop-Dean effort, and if so, who, how and when?

And as a side-note, when it finally dawned on people that Carter was going to get nominated in 1976 a concerted effort from the remaining runners meant that he lost something like 8 out of the last 11 primaries. So a stop effort can be successfull.

There will be a concerted Stop-Dean effort. Who: Sen. Lieberman and Gen. Wesley Clark would be the front attack dogs. How? Just keeping their messages on track, not changing their positions on the issues. When? They'd better start now.

Clark has the best chance of stopping Dean on Feb. 3, in Oklahoma, Arizona, and South Carolina.  But I do think dean will have the nomination clinched by Super Tuesday.

If you support Dean, I'm sorry. But I hope you're wrong about his cinching the Nomination.

I do support Dean, and unless Gephardt pulls it off in Iowa Clark is the only candidate that can stop Dean.  But Dean almost definitely would be stopped if all of the anti-Dean people (Kerry, Lieberman, Gephardt, Clark) rallied around one candidate.

I hear you Dan.

The old board here had a troll named "democrat", who then changed his name to "Republican."  He was funny, though.

Since you are a democrate supporter i am discussed in you for calling me a troll. You don't really care about Leadership in the Would if you have to call me a troll. You need to start acting like a democrate and get down to earth and grow up.
I love this guy!
