This is exactly why I want the Chinese to do it Smiley

That's really not their style, though.

Yes. Why would they do an open annexation?

Who cares, if it is not open?

He seems to be far, far more pro-China than previous Filipino leaders. This is bad news and a cause for concern. But the USA shouldn't interfere.

Thaksin did the same thing with drug dealers in Siam before he was deposed. I don't recall it being a big issue at the time.

Yeah that's right, I said Siam. Why don't you go tell Pedro Martinez about it.

Uh, 'kay? I have no idea why you're being extra or what our altercation about baseball has to do with anything.

Uh, is that because the name change was initially done by a WWII Japanese-allied military dictatorship that wasn't recognized by the Allies until 1949? It's a weird political statement, no real movement or party insists on calling it Siam, unlike the Burma/Myanmar thing.

You're over-thinking it. It has nothing to do with politics, I was just being retro. Its not like the word is forbidden.

He's openly asked the CIA to make the answer "no": https://www.yahoo.com/news/philippines-duterte-dares-cia-oust-him-130107820.html

No, and I wouldn't rule out foreign intervention bringing an end to his presidency, as suggested. It would definitely lead to another international mess, which in retrospect, we would agree would have best been avoided. However, there's always a lack of foresight with these things.

Yes, I don't see any foreign intervention happening, and an outside power toppling a popular, democratically-elected leader seems like it has never ended up well for anyone.

You're thinking of the biblical people from the New Testament.  Filipinos is the word you were looking for.
