Well, now that we know that Pence won, I can go to bed Smiley.

And I always thought it was the Democrats who had the time machine.

(The one Obama used to insert his birth announcement in the Honolulu newspapers.) Wink

Did Pence call it "Norwood" University or did I mishear it?

Pence isn't answering the question at all about Trump's temperament.  But Kaine needs to stop interrupting him so frequently.

15 minutes in and the moderator has lost control of this debate.  Weren't these guys supposed to be the decorous ones?

I'm not sure bringing up taxes is a good strategy for Pence here.  Will Kaine take the opening?

No, we're commenting from the transcript the GOP posted before the debate.

He did.

Pence is whining, while Kaine is being a bit of an ass.  Both are eh at this point.

Pence is clearly a better speaker.  But he keeps evading the questions.

Kaine seems to be relaxing a bit, which may help him for the rest of the debate.  Of course, at this point there are probably 20 people still watching.

Kaine is definitely winning the bias in law enforcement question.

LOL.  Pence interrupts and Kaine looks at him and says "Now we're even."

So far, Pence is ahead on demeanor, Kaine on content IMO.  Haven't seen anything that will move the needle in this race.

Taxes means Trump won't rebuild the military. Ok

The connection is tenuous, but it's something that's likely to resonate with many voters.

Once again, Pence seems like he's lobbing a softball by talking up Russia as the enemy, given Trump's praise for Putin.

I wonder how many viewers actually will have stuck through this to the end.

Stuart Rothenberg tweeted "Given the first hour of the debate, are any undecided voters still watching this? And if they are, don't they have something better to do?"  That sums it up.

Pence is performing better but that means nothing when you cant even defend the top of the damn ticket.

This, I think, is going to be the biggest takeaway of the night.

Just realized that I have inadvertently stopped listening. Did I miss anything?

Consider yourself lucky.

Watching this without sound, Pence seems angrier. Kaine, even when he is obviously unhappy, smiles more.

That's probably the best way to watch this!

Having said that, I think you have a point.  Pence comes across as a dour old man much of the time (even though he's certainly been more composed in this debate), while Kaine seems more upbeat -- even when he's angry.

Kaine is wrapping this up nicely.

He certainly finished much better than he started.
