Easily Amash from these. I'd support him or Rand in the real election--I'm not sure what I'd do re: primaries if neither of them ran Tongue

Agreed, except I know I'd vote Libertarian, unless that libertarian is from the Perry wing of the Party.

My prediction is that the 2020 Republican primary will be a Cruz-Cotton affair.
To believe that the people who nominated Trump and voted for Cruz and Carson will make a U-turn in 4 years and get behind an establishment choice like Kasich, Baker or Rubio is delusional.

As I mentioned elsewhere, Mittens might have been the last of his kind.

Rep. Justin Amash:

Ideologically he could be the answer. Needs maybe a term in the Senate first though.

Gov. Charlie Baker:

Boring technocratic governor (who are usually popular for some bizarre reason in their own states). Won't get any higher than his current position.

Sen. Tom Cotton:

Could be the standard bearer of the GOP right in the upcoming decade. Looks a bit dorkish though.

Sen. Ted Cruz:

Will try again no doubt in 2020 and could well win the nomination. The general would depend on Hillary's personal ratings etc.

Gov. Nikki Haley   :

Get the feeling that she's past her sell-by date already.

Gov. John Kasich:

I suspected he'd do quite well in the 2016 primaries and so he did. Can't see him running again though.

Gov. Mike Pence   :

Losing veep candidates don't often try for the top job in the following election. He might be an exception and could be the establishment's choice against Cruz.

Sen. Marco Rubio:

Just not good enough. Suspect he'll try and hold out in the Senate for decades and be a influential legislator a la Ted Kennedy.

Sen. Ben Sasse:

Don't know much about him, aside from his prominence in the NeverTrump crowd. Reasonably telegenic though.

Rep. Joe Walsh:

Not even in the game, is he?

Looking at other goo primaries outside of president it seems that's more wishful thinking on your part

Ok but my money would probably be on Rubio or Cotton, either of whom can beat Clinton if she can't improve her favorables

1st choice is Kasich, followed by Baker.

Could live with any of them except Walsh, but I would be disappointed to have to vote for Amash, Cruz, or Cotton.

Baker so long as he doesn't become a different politician when running for the presidency.

Voted Kasich and like Amash. I'd like to see Jon Huntsman or Bill Weld give it a go, but they likely won't and wouldn't have much of a shot if they did. Endorsing Trump is an act of moral cowardice and as such I don't feel like supporting anyone who did at the moment.

I'm inclined to think a Paul/Sandoval or Paul/Baker ticket would be pretty good and pretty possible.

To paraphrase David Cameron Atlas isn't America.

A lot of it depends on what actually happens in HRC Presidency; I can't remember if it was Axelrod or someone else who said we pick nominees/Presidents who differ the most with the last.

I expect a good chunk of the 2016 field (Rubio, Cruz, Kasich, Walker) to try and run again. Rand Paul imo won't run- he never seemed to even enjoy campaigning let alone break through and I think he's going to focus on being a half decent Senator.

Cotton is the strongest on paper; but the signs point to it being Cruz

Huntsman endorsed him before disendorsing after the Hollywood Access tape.

Charlie Baker:

Probably my favorite American politician today. Since becoming Governor of Massachusetts, he’s always taken the high ground on environmental (U.S. Climate Agreement) and social (abortion rights and LGBTQ+ Rights) issues and seems to have remained a fiscal conservative despite not having much chance to advocate for that in his current position. Of course, I’m not delusional; his chances of winning the primary are very low. If he were to somehow make it out, there would be a high likelihood of a conservative third-party candidate running, more likely from the Tea Party wing than not. Regardless, he would be a unifying figure for a divided nation. He will always be on my list of greatest Presidents who never were.

It's likely that he'd Romneyfy though.
