New York really wants to cement its rep as America's new "most corrupt" state, doesn't it?

As Rachel Maddow said a few years on a special she did on NY Politics: "Republican, Democrat...it doesn't matter! Corruption is a bipartisan affair in New York!"

I still think New Jersey is more corrupt.

New Jersey and Illinois are the only states with more corruption than New York.

Well, Nassau Republican party has always been in a league of its own. One would have thought that the Suozzi interlude would have taught them humility, though.

Step aside, posers.  Illinois takes this title in a walk. Sad

It will be interesting to see if this has any impact on the State Senate.  There are a couple seats thought to be in play and Michael Venditto (John's son) is a State Senator as well.

I think this will hurt Venditto's Senate re-election chances and will boost Kaminsky big time. Wouldn't be surprised to see freak Assembly seat upset either. Mangano is toast. Kate Murray 2017? Lol

If that's the case, could that hurt the younger Venditto's political future. I see Venditto as a future Senator/Governor. Young, fresh, moderate Republican.

In New York and New Jersey (And Illinois), it's usually the most bipartisan officials that are the most corrupt. Because they don't have an ideology besides what they are paid to support.

Hence, the IDC, and all the New Jersey Dems that endorsed Christie in 2013.

Venditto and moderate do not belong in the same sentence, for both father and son.

If Mangano decides to resign or is in a jail cell prior to his term ending the Nassau Leg (which is Republican) would appoint a replacement until the end of the term (the seat is up next year).  Murray is one of the names floated around, the other is State Sen. Martins assuming his likely loss to Suozzi in the 2nd Congressional District.

NY I think has moved to first place now in the corruption contest, surpassing PA, LA and IL. We're number one! Tongue

In La, there were a raft of of suburban pols prosecuted for graft 2-3 years ago, but since then it's all been sex, sex, sex, rape and murder.  In the same election that Bel Edwards defeated "Baby Diaper" Vitter, the Parish President of St. Bernard Parish lost his election because his wife said he had taken their sex dungeon too far and had raped her.   Current Congressman and Senate candidate Charles Boustany has been accused of having some involvement in the death of 8 dead hookers in the Cajun part of the state.  Finally, Mike Yenni, the current married (to a woman) Parish President of Jefferson, the largest Parish in the state, has admitted to sexting a 17 yr old high school boy and refuses to resign.

Might be too early for this, but with Mangano likely gone soon, a Tom Suozzi comeback, maybe?

As KingSweeden pointed out, Suozzi is in congress.    Steve Israel just retired, Suozzi ran for his old seat and won.

The Oyster Bay town Attorney resigned today as well, so this is likely far from over.

John Venditto may have cost his son his Senate seat. Democrat John Brooks beat his opponent, Michael Venditto, the son of John. The Nassau County GOP needs to have some shaking up.

Suozzi is a congressman now. He may be there in Congress for a long time, unless the Nassau/Queens GOP find a good challenger in 2018 or 2020.

Think Kaminsky will try to get his seat back?
