Its Nov of 1999 what would Atlas say about the election:

I think that Bush is going to win the GOP primary and Gore will win the Dem primary

To me this is how the election will look look like

Gore 223
Bush 184
Tossup 131

To me Bush will likely need a midwesterner as his to capture those tossup midwestern states , and Gore will likely need a moderate dem who has accross the board appeal to win tossup states everywhere

for this reason I think the Bush will select  Governor Tom Ridge as his vp and Gore will select Gephardt

Vermont loved Clinton, but I think they'll go back to being a solidly Republican state after this.

Poppy Bush's son winning? Yeah, if you have to go back to JQA to find an example of that, then it's not happening. McCain is the underdog, but he's probably the eventual victor.

Except I have this election as a tossup

I hope Gore picks Wellstone for VP. He'll need a liberal to balance the ticket.

He needs to go with same strategy Clinton with in '92. Double down on the conservative Southerner shtick. Sam Nunn or Jim Hunt would be good. Zell Miller wouldn't be a bad choice either, but he may be a bit too conservative.

Jim Hunt would be great, but I really think Shaheen would be a great pick for him.

I just think that with Bill's approvals hovering around 60%, Gore (or whoever it may be) can't lose

Shaheen has very minimal experience. Some time in a state senate and half a term as governor does not a vice president make.

Jim Folsom, Jr., or Don Siegelman are the best Southerners for Gore. Maybe Gene Taylor or Jim Hodges.

This is the best I could see McCain doing:

282: Albert Gore/Raymond Mabus
256: John McCain/George Pataki

Why does McCain win New York but not Oregon , Oregon has been more republican the New York for like a very very long time. 2nd question how does Gore win Virginia which even Carter 76 couldnt win. I cant remember the last time Virginia has gone to the dem nominee.

I really can't see Gore losing Pennsylvania or Minnesota. Not even Reagan could flip MN.

Hmm, if Clinton couldn't win Alabama 3 years ago what makes you think Gore can?

Very out of the box but here goes nothing....

Bush/Cheney (R): 271 EVs, 47.9% PV
Gore/Lieberman (D): 266 EVs, 48.4% PV

Recount in Florida occurs but 5-4 decision in Bush v Gore stops recount and gives Bush the election

One faithless elector abstained because DC has lack of representation in congress

Green party candidate Ralph Nader gets 3% because Gore is perceived as too moderate

lol. What's next, some Illinois State Senator taking the Presidency away from the sitting first lady in 8 years? Come on, get real.

Gore/Graham vs. Liddy Dole/Bob Smith is probably going to be the ticket at this point. I wouldn't undercut Bill Bradley's chances though. He could pull off an upset.

Yeah, it's almost definitely Lee P. Brown or a Southerner from MS/AL/GA/SC/FL.

Miami Mayor Alex Penelas or Gene Taylor would be good dark horse choices.

These posts are terrible. Gore will not win Mississippi or Virginia. No Republican will win West Virginia or Minnesota.
