Imagine that Hillary Clinton captures the Democratic nomination, as she has in real life, but the GOP ends up picking Carly Fiorina (who was leading/tied for first in a few primary polls last year, after a particularly strong performance in a Republican debate).

Who would they choose as their running mates? What would the gender dynamics of the election look like with two female candidates? Who would win?

I think that this would be the map. She wouldn't overperform in the less-educated Trump-friendly areas which we have been seeing, but she also wouldn't be floundering as much in VA/CO/NC.

Fiorina has enough of a checkered background that she would probably still be losing, and barely doing any better than Trump. Counterintuitively, I could see downballot Republicans doing worse, because it's not that hard to distance yourself from Trump for the right kind of politician, but distancing from Fiorina would've been completely impossible.

Fiorina would be losing by quite a bit - Trump at least has some level of charisma with his people. Fiorina is just horrible - plus i agree wiht vosem she'd sink the Republicans downballot even harder.
