Hi!

I have lurked here in 2004, 2008 and 2012. But this election really gets on my nerve and caused me to sign up. I know that my first posts here haven't exactly been friendly, but Trump and his supporters really frighten me. As opposed to any major party nominee in previous US elections, I think that Trump is a threat to democracy itself and to world peace. Someone with the temperament of a 5 year old does nit belong anywhere close to the nuclear button. And some of the Trump supporters on here openly spout out alt-right stuff that in itself is disgusting, which IMO sometimes must be met with a pointed answer.

Best regards, anti_trump

Not being in any way a Trump supporter, coming to the forum and start with making "ban all Trump supporters" petition is a silly way to start.

Welcome to the forum! I agree that fascism is disgusting and that we shouldn't try to normalize it.

Sure, let's transform the forum into a giant echo chamber. That would be very interesting.

And by the way, I know it's unpopular thing to say this, but labeling all Trump supporters as fascist is tempting (to make things easier for our little brains), but not factual. Many of them supports Trump for reasons that are explainable and such attitude is only making the real fascist stronger by pushing "soft supporters" far to the right. Let's use our brains to understand their stance and how to prevent them going over to the dark side.

I've experienced bigotry first hand so I have no sympathy for racist Trump supporters. But I also know  people can change. Don't just put a cross on them. I've seen many otherwise decent folks making such a mistake.

In a week, we'll go back to normal, with plenty of disagreement (but all civil), thankfully.

i know this seems to be a controversial opinion, but supporting a fascist campaign does, in fact, make one a fascist

The problem is, most of Trump supporters probably doesn't realize this.

Really, we struggle to understand, as political junkies, the way most of the people (from all backgrounds) votes.

comparing limp social democracy to fascism, of course, remains a false equivalency
