Obama was making fun of the Republicans for how in 2008 (or 2012?) they said that if he was elected gas would go up to $6 a gallon, "well I think $2 is pretty good!"

Reminds me of in 2012 when I would relentlessly make fun of my Republican friends who were making these kinds of absurd doomsday predictions by pointing out that when Obama was elected in 2008 they had all posted "welcome to the U.S.S.A" as their Facebook statuses, and that was a whole big thing where the U.S. was now communist.  And then it was supposed to fall down the slippery slope to communism after we passed Obamacare.

Now that the Obama administration is coming to a close after eight long, prosperous years, please post all the crazy, obviously wrong predictions you remember in this megathread.  The more widespread/ingrained the better.

Another would be Romney's claims about job growth slowing down and unemployment stabilizing at around 7-8%.  It's down to 4.9% in the latest jobs report and has been on a remarkably linear downward trajectory since Obama's first day in office.  By the way the best Reagan was ever able to get was 5.0%.

Remember that Republicans don't care about the facts, and just care about their own right-wing, deluded fantasy.

How about gas prices? Wasn't Gingrich saying they'd reach $8-$10?

The old woman from the Republican Club who warned of white slavery died before Obama could...uh....get the chains on us.

Also, Israel is still here.

GOP ain't nothing but a bunch of bedwetting trigger happy crackpots.
Bed wetting is something reserved for the left. Many on the right however harbor delusions about how glorious and fast a civil war would be.

Feels like this thread should wait till after the lame duck period. Some of them were clearly crackpot stuff, but others could still happen in "DGAF Obama mode".

While the left is more likely to put violence into practice because of a few deranged Bernie-bros, the weird obsession with muh revolution on the right is off putting. Though violent revolution is not entirely wrong in and of itself when necessary, I cannot think of one single remote scenario in which the physical removal of Clinton from office can be justified in any possible way imaginable, and I'm taking into account a literal nuclear exchange with Russia over Syria here.

I've seen and heard several theories that Obama will unconstitutionally remain in office beyond 1/20/17, via executive order, etc.  All perfectly sane and rational fears, tbh.

There's still time, but I remember a lot of people, mostly conservatives iirc, saying that Obama would be assassinated

Oh, my liberal friends and I were saying that around the beginning of his presidency.  I guess we've come a long way since the 60s.

I am surprised that there weren't any serious attempts on him. I guess technology and new training for the Secret Service effects that.
