This was a possibility in 2000: Vice President Al Gore picking Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh as his running mate.

Bayh would have made IN and OH in play, and may have held on to TN and MO....

Not the best running mate Gore could have chosen, but definitely much better than Lieberman, who was arguably the worst pick he could have made.
