No, the Republicans in congress will all submit to Trump and the few that won't (like Jeff Flake) will be ruthlessly destroyed by the Breitbart machine

This is actually what a colleague of mine predicted on Monday: Trump will win the election, but Congress is gonna impeach him after a year or so. I thought it unlikely that Trump would win, so maybe its time to reconsider my colleague's wisdom. Tongue

Are there enoug votes? If you thrown in all Democrats with the NeverTrump Republicans... possibly. All they need is a sufficient pretext. And they would probably wait until his approval ratings have dropped and he's unpopular enough. But all things considered, a Andrew Johnson-like scenario is more likely than ever.

No, we have control of the party. It is our party now. It'd be suicide.

But Senators like Cory Gardner, Ben Sasse, Lindsey Graham and even John McCain and maybe even Pat Toomey (if I'm not wrong) don't like Trump and didn't vote for him so maybe they could impeach him if there's an occasion to do so.

And the results in the New Hampshire Senate race are not yet determined and if Ayotte is defeated, there would be one more Democratic seat to impeach Trump.

Bill Clinton was basically impeached over a blowjob. It's only a matter of how much you want to find a pretext.

"Your" party? And what are the central tenants of this party's ideology, pray tell?

I'd honestly take my chances in keeping Trump than letting Pence's religious fascism rule.

For what? He has done nothing to warrant such. Red Avatars need to take the hint from the President and their candidate, and be gracious in defeat for the good of our nation during this period.

I'm interested in hearing why some people think that raping a child doesn't classify as a high crime or misdemeanor?

Obama kept drumming almost a year about impossibility for evil Trump to be elected president. Now you are beginning drumming about his impeachment. And you are sure to fail in the same way as Obama did.

There's an offhand chance Trump could be a decent President. If he governs by his basic "idealogy" (generic nationalism, isolationism) he could be one of our better ones. If he governs by his personal morals (lack of empathy) then we're in trouble.

Yes, I've heard the rumour. But there's no case, if there was he wouldn't have won, so I think this needs to be dropped

This. Pence is far scarier.

atm i think, either trump's blue collar voters or the whole conservative tea-party (sometimes similar goals, sometimes not) are going to be disappointed.....pick a posion.

otherwise i agree....most of the reps would prefer pence but this thing is over.

Wait, what? Are you genuinely delusional enough to believe that there are people who voted for Trump that wouldn't have if he had raped a child?

The biggest problem I have is that if you impeach Trump, we get Pence.  I feel that Pence would be 1,000 times worse for this country than Trump is.
