A few years back, I used to regularly engage in political debates in the Debating Chamber at Newcastle University and I regularly won Wink; however, there were two prizes one for the most factual speaker and one for the most forceful speaker

I only ever won in the one category, the question is which one?

Ever debate FOR the university at an IV? (just out of interest) I somehow managed to get myself into competing at the Nottingham IV (re-named Nottingham Open on British Debate as a result of my partner and I's participation).

I'd guess forceful. Not because your arguements aren't fact based, but you seem like you'd be a tough debater.

Never did, John

I wouldn't say that I'm particularly brilliant at debating (I never thought I was!) - but tough I was; however, I never really had any interest in persuing it at a formal competitive level. I was to happy to "win" for a pint of beer Wink

I recall seeing off the Tory candidate (1997) for Newcastle Central - a chap by the name of Brooks Newmark (recently elected Tory MP for Braintree)
