Nigeria has one of Africa's biggest online presences (yes, even for legitimate purposes. Still, have at least a good Adblock ready). Just google "Nigerian news" and you will have many online journals to choose from:

http://guardian.ng/

Nigeria has a fairly open press, so press reports on national government are accurate insofar as you are not being filtered state propaganda. Of course, English-language papers are biased towards coverage of the south of the country -- I'm not familiar with the northern Hausa press.
