Biss is the most likely choice, and the most ideologically compatible one. There's also a case for Pritzker - would be nice to have the Governor owe you a favor when you're running for Mayor

New primary poll from Capfax (that I'm not putting in the poll board b/c I don't have the full crosstabs):
JB 39%
Kennedy 15%
Biss 6%
Daiber 1%
Hardiman 1%

Sample size 1,154, MoE +/- 3

Kennedy has become Jeb! Leading the first few polls and collapsing later on to a billionaire, nice.

You're so right, Kennedy is totally Jeb! I hate it cause I supported/support both guys, but they are nearly impossible sells as candidates.

Pritzker is so much worse.  I'd rather have Kennedy.

(Is this sarcasm? just want to be sure)

Assuming it isn't, you'll probably end up holding your nose and voting Pritzker, just like I think most Soc Cons will hold their nose and vote for Rauner.

Pritzker is so much worse.  I'd rather have Kennedy.

Only reasons Kennedy isn't the nom is Pritzker's $/Establishment Ties and the fact that the Kennedy name isn't enough anymore.

I think many conservatives in Illinois will just not vote at all.  Rauner has really shot himself in the foot.  People are disgusted with him.

I'm saying he'd be the nom if Pritzker weren't in basically, but he'd most certainly have a fight for it.  (Also I called him Jeb!, how can I be underestimating his awkwardness?

I don’t think you’ve backed a winner since I’ve been on this forum..

I have backed winners before. For example, I endorsed Pat Toomey for re-election.

Per DKE legendary deadbeat dad and wingnut welfare extraordinaire Joe Walsh is debating an Indy run if Bruce Rauner wins his primary

*gets extra popcorn*

(I highly doubt Walsh runs fwiw)

Right, and I'm saying that a lot more media attention would not be good news for him — also opens up more space for challengers, party establishment would be likely to get behind someone else, etc etc. As a Dem in IL, I'm glad Pritzker is more likely to win than Kennedy solely b/c I think he's much more capable of beating Rauner.

Ives is reportedly collecting ballot petitions now.

Ives is confirmed to be circulating petitions with former state Rep Rich Morthland as a running mate. She is still circulating petitions to run for reelection to the IL House as well.

This isn’t about the Governor’s race, but apparently the IL Senate Majority Caucus Chair has lost his post due to a sexual harassment scandal.  That’s actually the second recent sexual harassment scandal (the first being involving the KY House Speaker) to occur fairly recently and while Congress operates under unique rules designed to make it incredibly difficult to bring such allegations against members and their staff, I wonder if we’re going to start seeing the floodgates open at the state legislative level.  I’d assumed IL was so corrupt that someone this powerful wouldn’t be brought down by this sort of scandal, but I’m glad I was proven wrong.

I was actually very impressed with Taxwinkle's proposed budget.  She is cutting deep.

Can we just rename this the Illinois Catch All Megathread?  The Governors race won't even be interesting.  Rauner lied to the Cardinal.

Rauner is toast because of his abortion vote. Republicans will not turn out to vote for him in a Midterm.

Honestly, the only thing that will make me root for a Democrat here is Obama jumping in (any of the two)... Which will obviously not happen, so Rauner it is.
