A wise old man once told me: "Every day above ground is a good day"

Travis is all right, but I tend to prefer the classic country myself mixed with a bit of Garth for variety, not to mention some of the Texas Indies, that I used to listen to back in Houston.

Whining about how girls don't like you and you smoke so much weed got old a very long time ago. Plus Brian Sella's vocals are literal nails on a chalkboard.

I mean, obviously I can't change your mind on his voice, but I find it strange that you think that they have a lot of songs about smoking weed. I can name maybe two(Skeleton from Talon of the Hawk, which isn't about anyone in the band and Historic Cemetery from Back on Top) and then others that reference drug use but that's obviously not the same.

Their whole "I'm awkward" schtick gets boring after a while. It's been run through the wringer in so many different incarnations that it's become as cliche as the "i hate my hometown" thing in pop-punk.

I don't mind the general subject matter, but the way that they specifically write about it is so trite and sleep-inducing.

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea

First time I've listened to the whole album, really don't know why I haven't been able to finish it previously.

Interestingly, the chorus melody is identical to ELO's "Telephone Line" (an amazing song btw)

Heh, I didn't hear that song until today but I do notice the similarities.

I wonder if that was intentional?  It wouldn't be the first time Green Day borrowed from another artist.  (Boulevard of Broken Dreams uses the same chord progression as Oasis' Wonderwall.  Gallagher was not pleased.)
