What's going on with the potential Special Prosecutor's investigation into Krazy Kamala?

For now it remains an open threat, as a Special Counsel has yet to be appointed.

As a quick author's note, as this enters the final stretch with election day posts, I wanted to note that all times listed are in Eastern time, and that this has been a lot of fun to write over the past year. Thank you to all the readers who have stuck with this so far.

This timeline is fantastic and should go into the Hall of Fame (if we have one).

We had one that darthebearnc curated, but he's been gone for a while now.

Anyways -- this has been such a fantastic and unique timeline to follow. Sad to see it go, but I'm sure that whatever you do next (if anything) will be just as fun to read! Looking forward to election night!

Donald
November 2nd, 2020
11:59 PM

The President of the United States was having trouble finishing his second Big Mac, which was an unusual occurrence. Maybe it was nerves, though that seemed unlikely since Donald Trump never let nerves get the better of him. He stared out the window of his plane, reflecting on the past year of campaigning. The rallies were great and he loved to hear everyone chant his name, but what had it all been for? Did they really love him? He had been a good president, hadn’t he?

One more day, and then it would be over. One way or another, win or lose, this election would end and he could take a break. He was getting tired of this whole thing anyway. Breitbart had massively misled them in terms of the effectiveness of the Harris/Palestine story, and their internal polling showed a small bump at best. The media was barely covering it and wasn't on his side at all for this, but he knew that they were going to miss him when he was gone. Donald loved being president, but over the last few days he had mostly come to terms with the possibility that he might lose. It was a feeling that he had not felt in four years, when almost all of his advisers had told him he was probably going to lose the 2016 election to Hillary Clinton. He had won then, and he obviously could still win now, but he was prepared to deal with the consequences. He looked over again at the tracking poll map that his team had put together.

Donald Trump/Mike Pence - 231 Electoral Votes
Kamala Harris/John Hickenlooper - 210 Electoral Votes
Toss-Up - 97 Electoral Votes

He knew they were lying to him about some of these states. He knew what a lead felt like, and the warm fuzzy sensation that came with it wasn’t there when he campaigned in Nevada. He still felt great about the Midwest, but he couldn’t help feeling like there was something missing from the last time he had been there. The cheers were just a bit softer, the crowds a bit thinner, and the spark just a bit duller. It couldn’t have been him, he had kept doing the same things he had always done. He said the things he wanted to say, did the things he wanted to do, and, though it drove his team crazy, he campaigned the way he wanted to campaign. If he didn’t win, at least he would have that. He pushed his button to summon another Diet Coke, and turned his attention to the nearest TV playing CNN. The midnight results of Dixville Notch, New Hampshire were about to come in.

President/Vice President:
Kamala Harris / John Hickenlooper - 4
Donald Trump / Mike Pence - 2
Write-In - Bob Mueller - 1
Write-In - John McCain - 1

Governor:
Stefany Shaheen - 4
Frank Edelblut - 4

U.S. Senate:
Chris Pappas - 5
Marilinda Garcia - 3

U.S. House:
Ann Kuster - 4
Steve Negron - 4

So does this Timeline end with 2020, or do you intend to follow it further?

Kamala
November 3rd, 2020
11:30 AM

Take deep breaths, Kamala told herself as she submitted her ballot. 12 hours or so from now, she would have a good idea of whether she was going to be the next President of the United States. Her campaign chair had just informed her of the early turnout patterns, and it was a little more of a mixed bag than they had hoped. Obviously, some people in her campaign, and likely many of her supporters on political forums or things like that, were probably freaking out and obsessing over every little precinct report, but Kamala tried not to pay too much attention to the early numbers. Their modeling overall seemed on point, if not a little weaker in the Midwest and a little stronger in the Southwest.

The biggest factor they were worried about, and had long fretted over throughout the campaign, was the Electoral College. They knew they were going to win the popular vote, and that had been more or less an absolute certainty since they had won the nomination, but the problem was by how much they needed to win the popular vote. Some on her team said they needed to win by at least two points, others said they would not be a safe bet unless they won by at least four points. Their tracking polls had hovered around a 6-7 point margin over the last week, though that was still potentially a little too close for comfort in case there was a polling error against them. Everyone knew from 2016 the difference that 1% could make.

She looked at the turnout reports as she entered the car. Their main focus was on Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Florida, Georgia, Arizona, and North Carolina. Those were the states that could make her the next president, or give Donald Trump four more years to destroy the country. They were also keeping an eye on states that looked less competitive, like Nevada, Colorado, Virginia, Ohio, Iowa, and Texas. If any of those states looked closer than they expected, they would be in for either a very good or a very bad night, depending on the state. Until then, Kamala would try to relax and wait for more information.

I think it's just Arial Bold. I was using whatever the automatic font was since it matched.

David
November 3rd, 2020
5:02 PM

The doors locked, and out of a safe emerged several sealed manila envelopes. The precious data was passed around the large table, and election night officially began. David Chalian saw his coworkers’ faces perk up as they received their exit polling memos. As CNN’s Political Director, there was nothing that made David nerd out more than seeing the first numbers for a presidential election. The network's bureau chiefs, reporters, analysts, and election night anchors began to let out their initial reactions.

"Wow, this could potentially be very big," Wolf Blitzer declared.

“OK,” Sam Feist remarked matter-of-factly.

“So, yeah this pretty much looks like Harris is going to win,” Jim Acosta offered.

“Do you remember how wrong the exit polls were in 2016? These are even better for Harris than those were for Clinton, I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump is going to win reelection by an even bigger margin,” Chris Cillizza said, offering his own take.

“Chris, please, that’s dumb,” David responded. The first things that caught David's eye were the racial demographics, which had Whites falling below 70% and Latinos overtaking Blacks as the second largest voting group.

Race:
White - 69%
Latino - 12%
Black - 12%
Asian - 4%
Other Race - 3%

Apparently, according to the state-level exit polling at least, Kamala Harris was poised to complete a narrow sweep of crucial Midwest states in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. In addition, she had small but healthy leads in Florida, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. She even had a slim margin in Arizona, and a fighting chance in Georgia. Though David knew that Cillizza’s theory itself was useless (mostly because he was an unrelenting, horrible producer of cringe-worthy hot takes that often failed in logic at an elementary school level), David also understood that the CNN election team had to be cautious tonight. This was the United States Presidential Election, after all.

Now the fun part beings. I cannot wait to see how this turns out. I hope Harris is the nominee in 2020.

Mitch
November 3rd, 2020
7:00 PM

Maybe it would all be over tonight. No more Trumps, no more Bannons, no more idiot adult sons getting us into Russian messes. Mitch McConnell almost longed for the days when he was leader of the opposition, fighting a common enemy in Barack Obama. Since Trump’s election, they had been fighting themselves. He had saved the Republican Party the Senate during the midterms, but it looked like it may be gone for them tonight, along with possibly the House as well. At least that would be a problem for the next guy, since Mitch was retiring from the Senate at the end of the term. Let Cornyn take a crack at it, see what it’s like when everyone hates you for doing your job.

The projection jolted Mitch and brought him to full alertness. Were the polls closing already? The last day of the presidential election had gone by fast. Two more state calls provided the equivalence of an espresso.

Georgia - Too close to call
South Carolina - Too early to call
Virginia - Too early to call

It was really happening, the end of the election of a lifetime. Mitch McConnell felt like he had spent half of his life either campaigning for or against these madmen. He wanted Boehner’s life. He wanted to cut his lawn and drink red wine and eat a nice steak, without having to hear the names Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton or Kamala Harris ever again. Soon, Mitch thought, soon.

Donald Trump/Mike Pence - 19 Electoral Votes
Kamala Harris/John Hickenlooper - 3 Electoral Votes
Uncalled - 38 Electoral Votes
