Political party machines are still powerful in America, regardless of what political pundits have to say. The Democratic Party has a large number of political machines in America, and they are still influential.

My top Democratic Party machines in America are:

*Cook County Democratic Party

*Chicago Democratic Party

*Philadelphia County Democratic Party

*New York State Democratic Party
**Queens Democratic Party

Any more you can think of?

There's no Chicago Democratic Party. It is just the Cook County Democratic Party, and it remains the most powerful Democratic machine in the country, albeit weakened over the years.

UNITE HERE Las Vegas

And then the #ShaheenMachine, though that's not a classic urban machine so much as a renovation of the concept of a permanent, influential, and informal partisan organization adapted to the era of professionalized politics.

The Kentucky Democratic Party is pretty damn impressive for a state they are fundamentally so stacked against in. Keeping those rural counties they held until the last few Presidential elections for so long is kind of amazing, and those are still safe D at the local level, and they managed to hold the State House until very recently too. Not to mention being able to deliver the state to Hillary Clinton in the 2016 primary, contrasted with West Virginia. (Although granted a big reason for this is Kentucky is more urbanized than people think, it contains two major cities and a significant chunk of the metro of a third.)

In terms of county-level machines, I'm not sure: I think bronz is just engaging in more of his vaguely-coded racial and/or geographic stereotypes with his suggestions. Reid's influence in Clark County is pretty impressive by modern standards; it may be the most powerful contemporary machine at that level (as in, not influential because they're coasting on power accumulated a century ago or whatever).

At the state level and until recently, I would have said the MN-DFL, but now I'm not so sure...it's certainly still a huge presence in local culture and that is worth something.

Norcross' New Jersey machine is the only one that has crushed its opposition consistently with no failures that I can think of in recently memory.

(for the record, Culinary 226, affiliated with UNITE HERE supplies most of the muscle and strategy to the Reid machine. If anything he's a product of them rather than the other way around IMO)

The Queens machine isnt that powerful...almost nobody votes up there and its chock full of old farts who are not really representative of the borough itself. Wouldn't be surprised if it gets taken over by a bunch of Dem Socialists honestly

I'd say the Dane County Democratic Party in Wisconsin, but not so much the statewide Democratic party. We've been weakened here due to gerrymandering and voter suppression by the WI Republicans.

MA Democratic machine. Although we're traditionally seen as a very liberal state there are many conservative parts of the state that could definitely be won by a Republican. Despite that all nine of our congressional districts go to the Democratic party making us the largest state to send their entire congressional delegation to one party.

In most cases these "conservative parts of the state" are skillfully coupled with much more liberal areas, so - no district is very likely to go Republican, except, may be, in very big Republican wave (a sort of Democratic gerrymandering).
