Name: John Simonds Date of Birth: March 18th, 1940 Age: 47 as of late 1987 Gender: toaster/apache helicopter ahh jk im not that edgy. Male. Party: Republican Faction: Maverick/Libertarian Wing Bio:
Born to poor barley farmers in Nevada, John Simonds was raised in a tough situation. His father had to leave at an early age to fight in World War Two, his father was killed in action on the beaches of Normandy, leaving his uncle, who had served in the Pacific to raise him. In 1946, his Uncle officially married his mother, Clara Marie Simonds. Being a slacker in school, John found himself in lots of trouble. In his young teen years, work on a farm was hard and he wanted to get places. In 1959, he tried to join the army but was rejected. Getting involved in politics, he ran for city council in 1960. He won the race and was re-elected three times before retiring to volunteer for U.S Service in Vietnam. In 1966-67, he saw little action due to him being a war cameraman, but the horrors of the Tet Offensive found the cameraman under fire and using a weapon. He decided to opt out of being a cameraman and served as a U.S Marine for two years, but was sent home after being wounded saving his squad from an ambush, by taking two gunshots to the chest and having most of his left leg's toes blown off. He came home defending U.S troops, and angered by Governor O'Callaghan's comments against veterans in a television interview in 1972, Simonds interrupted a live interview to declare that he would be running for Governor as a Republican "due to him betraying his own kind." Simonds was heavily backed by the Republican Party, but narrowly lost by around 420 votes. Simonds, determined to come back won the 1978 Nevada Gubernatorial Election, and was re-elected in 1982 due to his conservative principles. In 1986, Simonds ran for a Senate seat and defeated Harry Reid, the former Lt. Governor under O'Callaghan. Simonds is loved by the public, praised as a war hero and a maverick. He's an underdog but has good poll numbers out west, and in the early states. Can John Simonds, American hero succeed Ronald Reagan as President?
