He's from Montana, A former four year state attorney general, the incumbent Governor of Montana in his second term which he just won in November with a bare majority. Romney and Trump won huge in Montana both in 2012 and 2016, which were both years Bullock won his Gubernatorial races. Fiscally conservative, but liberal on social issues. Was the first MT Gov to officiate same-sex wedding, gender pay equality, and medicaid expansion to just name some. MT has had a pretty big budget surplus all 4 years he's been in office. A western Governor that could appeal to white, working class, blue collar voters. But also young people.

Stephen C. Bullock wouldn't be that bad of a candidate.
He's United Church of Christ for the record, and just 50 years old.
Other than gay marriage I can pretty much go for him.
From my perspective as a conservative, I wouldn't mind it too much.

I think Gov. Bullock could have a good shot in 2020, assuming someone like Sanders or Biden doesn't run. I'd be willing to vote him, although I'd like to hear much more from him on economic issues. But considering his success in a red state, especially winning in the same year Trump carried it by over 20 points, he certainly is electable and has broad appeal. He'd definitely need some extra help with appealing to the minority communities, so an African American or Hispanic running mate would be ideal. Perhaps Kamala Harris or Cory Booker.

Not going to happen, especially not in the Democratic primary. He has the same chance of winning in 2020 as Brian Schweitzer.

Bullock doesn't have a gaydar, does he? Pity that Schweitzer had to say that. I think Bullock could have a chance, but it depends on who else runs. Booker or Harris would be good running mates, as mentioned.

I think he has a better chance of being someone's running mate than winning the nomination.

He could be a good candidate in the general with much stronger appeal amongst working class whites and rural voters than Hillary Clinton had. He's moderate as well, perhaps picking up more Republicans than Clinton did. He is qualified, and his approval rating is high.

I'm not confident about his chances in the primary, though. We'll have to see.

Absolutely a good pick. While a moderate by most standards, as AG he directly took on Citizens United in court. That's a good example of how he can reach out to progressives.
