I have decided I am going to run for the Florida House of Representatives!

Really? In the future, or you mean next year?

My air conditioner has been broken for three days, and it's in the 90s outside

Just get a fan.

Easy for someone in Massachusetts to say- everyone has AC in Tennessee

I live in Los Angeles, and spend all my summers in Southern Italy. Just get a fan.

I was supposed to leave 'Flarda for the first time in five years tonight, but our flight was delayed six hours and the next flight isn't until 6:00 PM tomorrow, which is too late for me to go. I was looking forward to seeing my brother for the first time since January.

I don't know about anybody else, but my platonic ideal of hot weather is drinking water from a glass that's at least half ice cubes, wearing a short-sleeved shirt with an open collar, sitting in front of a box fan with "The Girl from Ipanema" playing softly from another room. If I'm going to have to suffer through ninety-five-degree heat for a few days each year, I might as well do it in a way that has a defined aesthetic sensibility.

It needs to be state's how impressive it is that Archer managed to fit references to The Wild One and Terminator in the same scene.

Best. Show. Ever.

I still have my "Cooling and Heating Load Calculation Manual" from college.

For Naples, Italy, the 2.5% Design Dry-Bulb is 88oF and the Design Wet-Bulb is 73o.  For Memphis, Tennessee, the comparable numbers are 95o and 79o.

It's always cute when Europeans refer to Italy as someplace hot, but Memphis is both considerably warmer and considerably more humid, and that's hardly the most extreme part of the U.S.

And as for L.A., I'm not sure how to respond, since California has so many microclimates.  Choosing Pasadena as someplace average, the comparable numbers are 95o and 71o, so Pasadena gets as hot as Memphis, but it is far, far less humid.

I'm watching MacArthur and simultaneously reading his Wikipedia page. His views on race, the economy, and war itself seem surprisingly nuanced for a man whose presidential bids were supported by 1940's conservative Reoublicans.

That totally sucks.... Sad

Airlines are becoming increasing crap these days, with overbooking and all that....

Ever considering riding the 'dawg?

Takes a bit more time, but is cheaper and more reliable if you can take an extra days off work next time round....

Done it quite a few times myself back in the days in the West Coast, Midwest, and even in the SouthEast.... It's actually kinda fun and you have more room compared to flying, for what is a relatively "Short Haul" trip....

My parents flew out of Miami 2 days ago for Germany and they were delayed for like 10 hours. I guess it just rains non-stop in Florida now
We've had little rain here in Palm Beach County, but I'm returning to Tally tomorrow in preparation for the cyclone that is about to hit.

Not sure if that matters, but I'm way South of Naples.

I have a car, so I could theoretically drive,  but my parents wanted to fly and I wasn't one to complain. I may just do that on my next attempt.

Better run under the RPOF than against the RPOF if I were you. They are one hell of a machine to go up against.

With my birthday coming up again tomorrow (well, in less than 24 hours), I'm considering rubbing the fact that I'm trans into the folks' faces again in hopes that, unlike the last time I did it, they'll say fuck it and help me do something about it (read: "switch teams", so-to-speak).

I just got a call from a scammer. I'm going to post it here. When they ask for your zip code, tell them 83352, until they catch on, so they know they have been caught. Have an insurance company picked out you can tell them. Don't spread this publicly on social media, but I have always wanted to get a bunch of people calling scammers to waste their time. The number is:

REDACTED

Tell everyone you can.

Upon further investigation into this, this is the number of a call center which sounds an awful lot like a scam. I apologize for my mistake.

Woke up this morning to find my tinnitus is worse than usual. I am currently drowning it out with sound therapy, but it usually comes back in a few minutes it I take off the earbud.

The AC is working again (but it's slightly cooler and less humid tonight anyway)!
