I don't know about anybody else, but my platonic ideal of hot weather is drinking water from a glass that's at least half ice cubes, wearing a short-sleeved shirt with an open collar, sitting in front of a box fan with "The Girl from Ipanema" playing softly from another room. If I'm going to have to suffer through ninety-five-degree heat for a few days each year, I might as well do it in a way that has a defined aesthetic sensibility.

Move to Flarda, buy a cracker house with a screened in porch, and rent me a room. That sounds.....awesome. With a hammock on the porch. Shinks.

Applied to probably 7 jobs today via Craigslist. They included alarm dispatcher and alarm installation, and also general labor and construction. While the former might pay enough to see me through the next few years, my appearance is much more suited to labor at this point--particularly with the beard.

EDIT: Never cooked fish before. This may be interesting (or not).

Lately I've been debating whether to train to become a lay priest when all the havoc in my life comes to an end - hopefully soon.  I know I'm a terrible person and probably an even worse Christian, but the way I see it now, someone needs to resist the disturbing fusion of fundamentalism, secularism, and materialism that's dominating the social and religious scene in America.  Maybe I'll make my mind up after seminary, which I'm going to regardless of what happens after college.

But then I plan to go into humanitarian work anyway, so maybe it doesn't matter.

That's been my attitude lately.

I've been telling myself a lot that I've failed.  Failed as a son, failed as a Christian, failed as an artist, failed as a human being.  And I don't know how to make up for any of it.  I'm not one for pity parties, but I bottle this crap up and it's causing me physical pain now.  My chest aches right now, but tonight's elections are probably just adding to the pressure.  That, and I'm recovering from Paxil withdrawal.

Still, I wish I could be born a different person.  Or just fade away from here and be with God.  (No, I'm not going to do anything dumb, so don't worry.)  idk
