(sorry I didn't do this yesterday, Leinad!)

Hi! I'm Delegate Spenstar, the dean of the Southern Chamber. If you would like to run for Speaker of the House of Delegates, please announce your intentions here. I'll give you guys 48 hours to declare your intention to run or not and then I will call a vote for the new Speaker.

Full disclosure, I will not be running for Speaker

Not running again--too much on my plate as PPT, etc. I think me as a non-member Speaker worked out well, just I doubt I could keep up the activity as someone else could.

I'll support anyone who frequently PMs the delegates as I did. That's very important. I've seen many regional legislatures go dormant. A constant stream of nagging is the best way to remind the people that they did, indeed, get elected to a thing. (Also an emphasis on debating would be good--we've seen a fair amount of debate in the South, thankfully, but too often I see legislative bodies in Atlasia become "bipartisan" rubber-stamp-fests.)

I am announcing my candidacy for Speaker of the Chamber of Delegates. As ex-Speaker, I have done the job before.

I intend to continue on as Leinad has previously - by emailing all the delegates for upcoming votes and ensuring a good balance in bills introduced.

I also plan to keep moving forward to making the South Great again. Smiley

I endorse the candidacy of Delegate Ben Kenobi. I believe he would be a fine Speaker.

Well the 48 hours are now up (and I still haven't made a decision support yet).

I can now project, with 100% of precincts reporting, that the new Southern Speaker is: diptheriadan!!

Congratulations, Mr. Speaker!

If he doesn't swear in, I'm technically the Dean by 7 minutes, right?

Yes what Dip just mentioned is found here which was legislation passed last month.

Also everyone, I also wanted you to be aware of this bill as well.

But anyways, I wish Governor NeverAgain, new elected delegates, fhtagn, JTC, Jacobin American, and CELTICEMPIRE, and former colleague Kenobi the best this term and I know y'all will do good work across the Southern region together.

Yes, deputy speaker nominations and the election will be up as well per Diptheriadan's legislation. I'll run them both together as that seems to be dip's intent.

Governor also has the obligation to nominate a candidate for attorney general, and for Southern Election Secretary.

I am now opening up the floor to nominations for both positions:

Speaker

and

Deputy Speaker of the South.

Per the laws of the south, the only requirement for speaker is that they have the confidence of the chamber and they are a registered southern citizen.

In order for the nomination to be accepted - please post your username and the position you are seeking.

You have 48 hours from 9 CST March 19th. Nominations will expire after that date.
