It is not possible to nominate two people to the position of deputy speaker. You'll have to choose one, diptheriadan.

Out of curiosity, how would a tie be resolved?

I think the assumption was that since there is no Lt. Governor, the Governor will resolve ties. In any case, we have an odd numbered chamber for a reason, so I would of course hope that everyone votes soon.

Speakership is decided by the delegates, not the Governor. We've gotten away from Governors appointing the Speakers for quite some time now.

The resolution of ties was the question here, I am quite aware that Governors do not get to appoint Speakers, as I opened this thread for a reason.

I see nothing in the Chamber rules that permit the Governor to break a tie in this fashion.

I don't think it could be broken. Deadlocked bills die on the order paper or get tabled.

We have no consensus. Cuber's ballot is invalid as it was edited more than 10 minutes after it was cast.

Since we don't have any precedents of a tie vote for Speakership here in the South, I am going to appoint a commission of three members to sort this out.

I am appointing Leinad, Spiral and Peebs to the new

'Electoral Commission for the South'.

If we're going that method, wouldn't fhtagn, who edited her ballot nearly five hours after it was cast, have her vote invalidated as well? And besides, where does it say that a ballot is invalidated after 10 minutes anyway? If anything, it would be 15 minutes as is the norm with both federal and Southern elections (read: the ones I run Tongue), which would only invalidate fhtagn's vote.

Actually, you lose as fhtagn's vote is also invalid.

Diptheriadan is now Speaker of the South.
