What's crazy is that I honestly expect a majority of Republican voters to be in favor of this.

I honestly think that due to environmental degradation, rising sea levels, unpredictable weather, and water shortages around the globe, we should be headed towards a world government.  These people still live in the 20th century.
The problems we face are global and can only be faced at a global level.  The Syrian crisis, which many analysts believe is the product of an environmental crisis in the area, and the effect it has had on European societies is a perfect example of that.

Ron Paul first introduced "American Sovereignty Restoration Act" in 1999 1997 and I believe it has been reintroduced every year since then. It has never had any real support before.

That being said, in the new Trump era maybe it will have more legs, but it would be an extreme stretch to say "Congress Looking To End Membership". All sorts of extreme bills get introduced all the time

Modified to reflect accordingly, but I feel that this might have some legs in this political climate, as you say.

Update:

Paul first introduced it in 1997
https://www.congress.gov/bill/105th-congress/house-bill/1146
It had 14 cosponsors

And it was introduced in the last Congress by Mike Rogers (It had 7 cosponsors)
https://www.congress.gov/bill/114th-congress/house-bill/1205

The 2017 version has 6 cosponsors (so far)

They have another headquarters in Geneva already. Also, the Hague, Vienna, Nairobi, etc. They will manage.

We should try to host them down here Smiley

They have several, but my questions was where will the main headquarters of the UN be.

Geneva is the most obvious answer: the biggest facility is there, I believe.

For the love of all that is holy, must the left piss themselves over everything in the age of Trump?

"US out of UN" is not a new protest chant.  Such bills have been introduced in the congress several times.  My guess is that this bill will not make it very far.

Why hasn't it been reported?  But it has, by you.

Getting the US out of the United Nations has been a long-standing objective of the John Birch Society.

I wonder how many elected Republicans are Birchers.

Right now, on NatGeo, there's a show called "After Hitler" which is talking about the World Government Charter.  If you're bored with watching the New England Patriots kicking ass and taking names, you should check it out.  (I'm watching during commercials.  It's pretty interesting.)

I can pretty much guarantee you that Israel will not survive the UN by more than a year or two. So, another example of you showing your true (anti-Israeli) colors.

Who's going to invade a nuclear power? Good luck to them!

Nobody. But within a few months of South Sudan nuking the Central African Republic (with a bomb it purchases in a Cairo bazar) life in the Middle East will be extinguished Smiley  I am not, at all, claiming that Israel is the only country that will stop to exist.

Remember: I have never said that anything is unique about Israel. The world is not revolving around it. It is just, given the number of friends and enemies it has, it needs the world that runs by some sort of rules at least as much as anybody else. Well, I am afraid, we will not have any rules for a while.
