Name is alright. I find the logo change from yellow, a happy color, to red quite menacing.

The 'last Jedi' referring to Rey, I presume?  Once Luke trains her before he meets his demise, that is.

It could be plural.

I was going to say HN until I read this post.  Mind blown.

It definitely implies something I thought was beginning to happen with Rogue : Star Wars is going much darker than before.

I like how open ended it is. At first glance, it seems like they're obviously talking about Luke, but clearly it could be referring to someone else.

*- The Empire Strikes Back
*- The Force Awakens
* - The Last Jedi

and another movie with JEDI

It probably refers to Luke, given the rumors that Luke believes the Jedi are inherently flawed and should die out, and refusing to train Rey as a Jedi.

I don't like Jedi being in the title again. But the red in the promo material is cool, I'm sure it will still be the same yellow opening crawl.

Not a fan, but I'm not liking the entire direction of the sequel trilogy to begin with.

Disgusting, the Middle Title should be AN ACTION.

The first episode in the sequence promises something vaguely (The Phantom Menace promises that there is something lurking, threatening to overthrow the order. A New Hope promises that said order will be restored and The Force shall be balanced again) , the second episode is YUGE action (Attack of the Clones! The Empire Strikes Back!), and the third is all about someone's victory (Revenge of the Sith and Return of the Jedi).

This breaks that cycle, and just makes a statement about a situation.

Since the main problem with TFA was how sheepishly it followed the Star Wars playbook, I'm inclined to take deviation from the established conventions as a good sign.

My guess:

Rey is the talented-yet-impatient pupil of Luke Skywalker, who now talks backwards. Luke warns her repeatedly that even though she has a powerful destiny, she cannot take on Kylo Ren, and warns her that her father was a great Jedi who fell against Kylo Ren.

Kylo Ren leads a blistering assault against the Resistance and captures Finn. In a conversation with Snoke, Ren mentions that Rey is of a mighty bloodline and destiny and would be more valuable turned than dead. Snoke agrees. Kylo Ren tortures Finn to draw out Rey.

Rey ignores Luke Skywalker's protests and goes off to confront Kylo Ren. He defeats her and reveals the truth:

"Skywalker never told you about your father."
"He told me enough! He told me you killed him!"
"No. He is your father."
"No! That's not true! That's impossible!"
"Join me and together we will rule the galaxy as first cousins."

Rey escapes, wounded, and the Resistance looks to be on its last legs. Rey has to confront that her Master Skywalker is the deadbeat father who abandoned her many years ago, and deal with her leftover anger and trust issues. Times are truly dark for the Resistance.

I'm okay with it, but I don't like the revisionism it kind of brings to the fore here with regards to the OT. Two movies ago, the saga was supposed to end with the triumphant Return of the Jedi.

That we are now back to The Last Jedi, which is basically where we were for most of the OT, kind of cheapens the promise of Episode VI. I accept that the existence of the sequel trilogy necessarily reopens the neat conclusion we got with Return, but having the title of Episode VIII be such a contradiction disappoints me.

I'm also just not really a fan of reusing "Jedi" in the title or breaking the pattern mentioned above.

So, basically, I think it is a very compelling and interesting and dark title without context, but the context we do have makes it feel a bit disappointing.
