It seems Italian American conservatism is of a kind of practical "law and order" nature.  It's neither a moralistic Bible Belt type conservatism, nor do they seem to be huge free market ideologues.

The one thing I would say, and it is supported by polls from back when, is that Italian Americans tend to dislike paying taxes more than many demographic groups.

I'd say that they're more fiscally conservative and racist (on average). Social conservative isn't a label that applies to them imo. In the US, "social conservatism" tends to mean "religious right" and Italian-Americans definitely are not part of the religious right...

Law and Order conservative, with being reactionary (racially, lifestyle way) though still socially liberal/moderate. Fiscally moderate, with some being fiscally conservative. It's an adherision to order, stability, while not caring a lot about TEH Gays, or TEH abortion, or TEH markets.

A lot of Italian Americans own small businesses and they seem to be underrepresented among the "liberal class."
