My friend just shared this video on the rise of Trump and Trumpism:

Essentially, it argues that liberals are culpable for Trump because we've fought over the years to allow things like gangsta rap and pornography to become less culturally taboo, and in so doing, paved the way for someone like Trump to gain mainstream appeal.

Thoughts?

Terrible logic. Why doesn't the existence of culturally conservative pop-culture give rise to a left wing egotistic lunatic? The idea that culturally progressive things have created a right-wing backlash giving rise to Trump doesn't make sense because why then don't culturally conservative things create a left-wing backlash?

Trump would have be done in the primary if the standards of 1988 morality still prevailed, no matter which party he ran in.  Assuming that all that came out about him came out, of course..
